The Purpose of Sunday School
The purpose of Sunday School is to change lives for Jesus Christ by evangelizing the lost and discipling those who respond to the Gospel through our classes. This is the Great Commission.
In 2007, we hope to have our 8:15 Sunday School hour fully age-graded. This will mean the addition of at least twelve new classes for Preschool, Children, Youth and Young Adults. As the church takes this leap of faith, we need our members to take a leap of faith by stepping into teaching, reaching, caring, and secretarial roles for these new classes. 2006 promises to be an exciting time for Sherwood's FAITH Sunday School. Come and be a part of the excitement with FAITH Sunday School.
SUNDAY SCHOOL MISSION:
To connect people to the body of Christ at Sherwood Baptist Church
Fulfilling the mission of Sunday School involves four main tasks:
1. Reaching the needs of people for Jesus Christ and Church Membership.
2. Ministering to class members through Christian fellowship.
3. Teaching class members the Word of God to equip them as disciples of Christ.
4. Helping class members find a place of service to help them grow in their faith.
Two critical elements to fulfilling the vision and completing our tasks:
1. Developing new leaders.
2. Birthing or planting new classes.
