New Volunteer Info
We are so glad that you have expressed interest in being involved in the Children’s Ministry at Sherwood. We are excited about what God is doing through His faithful parents and volunteers who give up their time each week to lead our 1st through 5th graders. You could not be getting into this ministry at a better time. We need you now more than ever!
We have many different opportunities for you to get involved in our ministry here. We need men and women who can commit to lead in ongoing areas of ministry, such as Sunday School, Xploration Station small group leaders, & Kids Rock! volunteers. We want you to know that excellence is expected in every area of this ministry. It is because of this that we have developed a process to enlist and equip volunteers to serve in our Children’s area. This process has three steps:
1) We ask all of our children’s volunteers to complete a ministry volunteer application. This application helps us to make sure you are placed in the appropriate area of service. As part of this application, we also require that all volunteers release to us permission to have a criminal background check placed on file in our office before they are allowed to work with our children. This is a completely private inquiry that will remain on file to protect both the children and the volunteer.
2) We ask that you commit to apprentice with a lead teacher (Guide) for two months in the area in which you are interested in serving. This will give you a good idea of the commitment level required for this position of service.
3) Following the two months there will be a short phone interview with a member of the Children’s Ministry Summit Team. The purpose of this interview is to answer any questions you may have concerning the Ministry. If our Children’s Ministry seems to be a good fit for you, following the phone interview, you will be placed in your appropriate area of service with a minimum commitment length, of one year.
